| Scope and Result | The ESL-SAFETY safety communication profile complies with the requirements of IEC 61784-3 (in extracts) and IEC 61508, and can be used in applications up to SIL3 according to IEC 61508. |
| Specific Provisions | The assessment of the correct implementation of this safety communication profile needs to be considered as part of each product evaluation. Under assumption of the maximum number of logical connections, the largest amount of payload data and the shortest cycle time, the residual error rate per hour (RER) will be >1% of the permissible PFH for SIL 3 and has therefore to be accounted for in the overall reliability calculations.
